While we were on vacation, we experienced a situation with our van that had the potential to wreck our entire week--and drain our checkbook! We drove our Honda van 10 hours from South Bend, IN, to our destination in the Smokys. We were concerned as we began to experience transmission problems the last few hours, but as we drove to the top of the mountain to our chalet rental, our transmission gave out and we knew we were in trouble. We were in trouble. We were in a strange town with 4 children and no van. We didn't know who to trust for a service estimate, and as our van had 108,000 miles on it, we didn't quite know what to do. We found our way to Chip's Transmissions and immediately realized that we were in extremely competent hands. Phil verified that our van needed a $4,000 transmission, but asked us to wait while he checked on something. He called the Honda Dealership and learned that our warranty had been extended to 109,000 miles! We were less than 1,000 miles from out-driving this warranty and wouold have never known. Phil made the arrangements to get us to a Honda dealer, as well as a free rental for the rest of our vacation. The entire situation went from tragedy to blessing, in large part because of Phil's willingness to go the extra mile for us! We were very sure that Phil was an angel sent to us. He was committed to honesty and integrity, even though he ended up making no money from us. We were so grateful for the competence and help be gave. If we lived in the area, we would refer everyone to Chip's!
